Lauren Barros

Attorney at Law

Ms. Barros owns LRBFamilyLaw, specializing in divorce, surrogacy, adoption, LGBT law, and complicated family law issues.  Lauren is AV rated by Martindale Hubble and a Fellow of the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorneys. Lauren is a member of the Third District Court Judicial Nominating Commission, the Utah State Bar Family Law Executive Committee (Chair 2011-2012), the National Center for Lesbian Rights’ Family Law Advisory Council, the Women Lawyers of Utah (President 2001-2002), and the American Inns of Court. Lauren received the Utah State Bar "Distinguished Family Law Practitioner" award in 2006 and the "Most Fabulous Attorney" award from Q Salt Lake Magazine many times. Lauren has been listed in Utah Business Magazine's Family Law “Legal Elite” and in the American Trial Lawyers’ Association “Top 100 Trial Lawyers in Utah” for the many years. Lauren volunteers as the Leader of the Wasatch Back chapter of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby. In 2009, Lauren also helped create the first pro bono LGBT Law Clinic in Utah, Rainbow Law. She also provided free family law legal advice at the Third District Family Law Clinic for many years. She was a Small Claims Court judge in the Third District Court from 1998-2005.

Licensed Therapist

Alison was born and raised in Utah. She earned her Bachelor degree in social work from Weber State University and a Masters degree in social work from Our Lady of the Lake University. She has worked with survivors of domestic violence and more recently has provided court ordered therapy for clients ranging from domestic violence to substance use offenses, but Alison’s desire has always been in working with those hoping to grow their family. As an undergrad, Alison was told that this population didn’t exist, so she is thrilled to find an opportunity to work where her true passion lies.

Tonya has been helping intended parents in their family-building journeys for more than 14 years. Her favorite part of the process is getting to know parents-to-be on a personal level. Tonya firmly believes that there is no greater joy than being a friend and helping these families who wish to have children. She is passionate and empathetic while helping families feel more comfortable and accompanied on their journey to parenthood. Tonya has managed the Utah Fertility Center & Nevada Fertility Center's third-party programs. The programs have over 300 egg donor profiles in the database and helps families, from all over the world, use egg donors and gestational carriers.

Tara Gailey SSW

Lead Foster/Adoptive Consultant

Tara is a Lead Foster-Adoptive Consultant with Utah Foster Care where she has been working for the last 8 years. Her career in child welfare began at the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) 19 years ago after graduating from the University of Utah with a degree in psychology. It was in her positions with DCFS where she developed a love for foster parents, and even influenced her and her husband to become foster parents themselves. She also serves as the secretary for the Utah Adoption Council which supports agencies, attorneys, adoptive parents, adoptees, and birth parents to advocate for ethical practices in adoption in the state of Utah. Tara is an infertility survivor and is grateful for her IVF miracle son who is now 10 years old. Her experience with infertility and working in child welfare has helped her be more empathetic and attentive to the needs of the families that she works with. In her spare time, Tara enjoys reading, traveling, visiting the beach in her home state of California, and watching all things Star Wars and superheroes with her son!

Tara Romney Barber LCSW

Adoption and Clinical Programs Director

Tara Romney Barber has worked with children, adolescents, and their families in various capacities for almost 20 years and she is passionate about helping children and families discover their strengths and increase their resiliency. Tara is currently the Adoption and Clinical Programs Director at Children’s Service Society of Utah (CSS), providing pre- and post-adoption services to birth parents, adoptive families, and their children. Her experience working with those impacted by trauma informs her work supporting all members of the adoption constellation throughout their journey. Additionally, Tara serves as an adjunct professor for the University of Utah’s College of Social Work and is a trainer for the nationally accredited, evidence-based Training for Adoption Competency curriculum. In her free time, she loves spending time with her husband and two adult children traveling and taking photos.

Agency Owner United Surrogacy

I am passionate about helping families complete their desire for children. Through my personal experience of carrying 5 babies for 4 families and years of research & networking with mentors, I advocate and provide support to numerous gestational carriers and intended parents via social media and face to face meet ups. I am dedicated to promoting ethical standards for surrogacy to involved parties and the general public to help normalize surrogacy. I believe in educating all parties of best practices, ethical standards and inherent risks to ensure best possible outcomes and respect for the surrogacy process.
